Menlo Park Municipal Water customers are eligible for the Lawn Be Gone rebate of three dollars per square foot of lawn converted to drought tolerant landscape. If you would like to participate in this program but are not sure where to begin, the City is hosting a Garden Design for Natural Habitat Workshop to assist and educate residents on how to get started.

Join this upcoming virtual workshop April 20 from 4– 5:30 p.m.

You'll learn how to:

  • Get started designing your drought tolerant landscape.
  • Select plants for water conservation and habitat creation.
  • Design and maintain your landscape to support pollinators and the local ecosystem.

If you are unable to attend, the City of Menlo Park is also hosting an additional in-person Water Efficient Edible Gardens Workshop Saturday, April 27 from 1–2 p.m. in the Juniper Room at the Arrillaga Family Recreation Center (700 Alma St., Menlo Park).

In this workshop, you'll learn:

  • How to select plants for your edible garden to replace your lawn.
  • How and when to plant your seeds or seedlings.
  • How to compost.
  • How to effectively water your plants and more!
